Affirmations are powerful tools for transforming the mind, shaping beliefs, and creating positive changes in life.
When Affirmations are repeated consistently, they help rewire neural pathways, reinforcing empowering thoughts and shifting subconscious patterns. Science shows that affirmations can reduce stress, boost confidence, and enhance overall well-being by activating the brain’s reward system and fostering a new mindset.
More than words, affirmations are a practice of aligning thoughts with intentions. They help you cultivate self-love, resilience, and a greater sense of purpose. By consciously choosing uplifting statements, we can reshape our reality from the inside out.
Following are top 10 lists of Affirmations from some key figures during the late 19th to early 20th century that explored metaphysical, New Thought, and mind-body-spirit connection:

Emma Curtis Hopkins (1849–1925) came before James Allen (1864–1912) in terms of influence and teachings.
Emma Curtis Hopkins, known as the "Teacher of Teachers," was a key figure in the New Thought movement and influenced many spiritual leaders, including Charles and Myrtle Fillmore. She began teaching in the 1880s and founded her own theological seminary, where she trained future leaders of Unity, Divine Science, and Religious Science.
James Allen, on the other hand, published As a Man Thinketh in 1903 and focused on the power of thought and self-discipline. While his work was highly influential in the realm of self-improvement and personal philosophy, Hopkins was an earlier pioneer in the metaphysical and spiritual aspects of thought transformation.
So, Emma Curtis Hopkins came first and had a foundational influence on the New Thought movement before James Allen published his writings.

James Allen (1864–1912) came before Charles Fillmore (1854–1948) in terms of publishing his key works. Allen’s most famous book, As a Man Thinketh, was published in 1903 and focused on the power of thought in shaping one’s life. His ideas were part of the New Thought movement but leaned more toward personal responsibility and self-discipline rather than the metaphysical teachings that Fillmore later expanded upon.
Charles Fillmore, co-founder of Unity, started publishing his teachings in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, but his major works and the full development of the Unity movement came after Allen’s time. Fillmore’s teachings incorporated spiritual healing, affirmations, and metaphysical interpretations of Christianity, while Allen’s work was more philosophical and focused on self-improvement through mental discipline. Both were influential in the broader movement of thought transformation, but Fillmore’s teachings were more explicitly spiritual and tied to Christian metaphysics, whereas Allen’s were more focused on personal willpower and the law of cause and effect in thinking.
